Meet our Engineers

As Technical Director of Tioga Design, Barry leads the product design and development function.

A Chartered Engineer, Barry has almost 30 years of radio and electronic product design experience. For the past 15 years he has led multi-disciplinary engineering teams who have delivered many sophisticated product solutions to a wide range of commercial, government, law enforcement and defence customers.

The numerous patents held by Barry and his team, embody the spirit of innovation present throughout Tioga Design. Actively participating in projects, Barry inspires the team to deliver beyond our customers’ expectations.

A Chartered Engineer, Steve is responsible for all software and firmware aspects of Tioga Design projects.

Steve has been with the team for almost 20 years having originated from the nuclear machine health monitoring industry where he gained a wealth of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) knowledge, focused mainly on vibration analysis.

Steve’s many years of experience are invaluable when understanding customer needs, solving their complex problems and delivering robust software, signal processing, and firmware solutions.

A degree qualified Communications Engineer, as head of hardware design Ian is actively involved in all stages of Tioga Design projects; from understanding customer requirements, designing circuitry, testing and evaluation, third party approvals support, assisting with customer field trials and delivering customer training packages.

Originating from a military background as a naval submariner, Ian has been with the team for almost twenty years and has been instrumental in delivering some our most sophisticated projects.

As head of Mechanical Design, Alan is responsible for all enclosure and mechanical piece part designs.

Alan and his team always work closely with Tioga Design customers to ensure that the overall look and feel of the finished product is in keeping with expectations and that the resultant design is fit for purpose.

Originating from a military background, Alan has been with the team for almost 30 years and is well versed in all aspects of enclosure design, and production techniques. His ability to rapidly produce concept designs and prototypes has proven invaluable during the initial stages of some of our most sophisticated developments.

As Engineering Services Manager, Darren is responsible for circuit board design and for overseeing the Design for Manufacture (DFM) stage of all Tioga Design projects.

Working closely with the mechanical design team and Tioga’s manufacturing team, Darren ensures that our projects transition seamlessly into production.

Darren has been with the team for almost 20 years and has a wealth of circuit board design and manufacturing knowledge, his experience and expertise ensure that Tioga Design projects progress with minimal fuss or issues.
